State-Owned Enterprise Airways New Zealand has agreed a standardised level of service that it will provide to all airports.
A Letter of Agreement outlining the service levels and type has been signed by the Chair of NZ Airports Association Kevin Ward and Airways Chair Susan Paterson.
The agreement covers air traffic control, airfield lighting and associated services. Additional services can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis with each airport company.
“Previously the services we provided to airports across the country were inconsistent. There was no agreement on what we were required to do, and what were additional and therefore chargeable service and activities,” says Airways Head of Customer Manager Gareth Owen.
“This agreement protects Airways’ ability to commercialise data and create a platform to offer enhanced services. It also gives airports more assurance over Airways performance with greatly enhanced reporting required of Airways.”
